Taxis, luggage, heat and food: Cyprus without a car
Four things a car-free visitor asks before or between bus rides, each answered from the page that publishes it: the Deputy Ministry of Tourism for taxis, heat and vegan food, Hermes Airports for luggage storage. Where no official source answers, this guide says so instead of guessing.

Taxis Urban taxis run on the meter, by law
Visit Cyprus says urban taxis are a 24-hour service in all towns, can be booked by phone or hired directly from the street, and are equipped with taximeters, the use of which is obligatory. Charging commences when the passenger enters the taxi.
- Visit Cyprus lists a charge for each piece of luggage and a supplement per ride on named public holidays; its transportation page publishes the current tariffs.
- Rural taxis have no taximeter, charge by a kilometre rate and can only be hired from and to their base station, except when hired at the airport or seaport.
- Hermes Airports’ public-transport page says taxis wait in the designated taxi area on the right as you leave the Arrivals Hall, on a 24-hour basis; the page does not say which of its two airports it describes.
- Visit Cyprus says complaints about a taxi service or driver go to the Road Traffic Department, as it names it, by email, or to the police.

Luggage Leaving luggage at Larnaca or Paphos airport
Hermes Airports says a baggage storage service, run with Safe-Sac J.V., operates at Larnaka and Pafos airports, for a few hours or a few days, at the Special Baggage Counter in the Check-in area. Payment can be made by cash or credit card.
- Cash, jewellery and other valuables, weapons, inflammable or hazardous materials and items that spoil easily may not be left.
- Each piece gets a Baggage Storage Tag; keep the original copy of the form, which you need with an identity document to collect.
- This guide found no official left-luggage service in the towns; ask your accommodation.
- On Cyprus Public Transport buses, small luggage travels at the driver’s discretion.

Summer heat Long dry summers: plan the bus back first
Visit Cyprus describes long dry summers from mid-May to mid-October. July and August are the hottest months, with average maximum temperatures ranging between 38° C and 27° C, and humidity very low in the middle of the day on the central plain; the sea breeze makes the coast more pleasant.
- Know your bus back before you set out: a rural line may run only a few times a day.
- Cyprus Public Transport says its buses are equipped with air-conditioning systems.
- In an emergency, call 112; Visit Cyprus lists 11892 for night pharmacies.

Vegan and gluten-free Vegan food: the official list, and its limits
The Deputy Ministry of Tourism has compiled a list of licensed establishments that respond to vegan dietary requirements, searchable on Visit Cyprus. It lists what venues offer, as they state it; it is not a guarantee about any dish.
- This guide found no official list of gluten-free venues in Cyprus. Ask the venue what it can serve and how it is prepared.
- This guide does not describe any venue as safe for coeliacs or for allergies: only the venue can answer that.
